history , woodworking, mechanics -- or simply the ambiance of
an ancient, working manufactory in its original historic setting
-- are cordially welcomed to the Mill.
The three Mill buildings (Mill, Dryhouse,
and Barn), including the woodworking shop floor in the Mill,
are open to the public on Tuesdays and Saturdays from 11:00 AM
to 3:00 PM.
Individuals and groups are welcome. Please
call ahead at 781-643-0554 to make appointments for tours by
large groups. |

Directions to The Old Schwamb Mill
- Via Car: From Boston
- Drive West on Rt. 2 heading towards Cambridge and Arlington.
Rt. 2 can be reached either by Memorial Drive or Storrow Drive.
- Immediately after driving under Rt. 60, exit to the right
(at sign marked "Exit 58") and drive parallel to Rt.
2 along the mile-long exit ramp to Park Avenue in Arlington.
- At the set of lights at the top of the exit ramp, turn right
onto Park Avenue (in the direction of Arlington Heights).
- Follow Park Avenue in a northerly direction for one mile
to Massachusetts Avenue.
- Drive across Massachusetts Ave. At the first intersection
(after the bridge), take a sharp right onto Lowell St. The first
street on your left, off Lowell St., is Mill Lane.
- Via Public Transportation (MBTA)
on Monday through Friday
- Take the Red Line to Alewife Station.
- Take the bus marked "62" from Alewife Station.
- Ask the driver to stop at St. James Church in Arlington Heights.
- Continue walking up Massachusetts Ave. (same way as the bus
was travelling, until you get to the fork in the road (Nicola's
Pizza Parlor on right). At the fork in the road bear to the right
onto Lowell St. Second street on right is Mill Lane.
- Via Car from Connecticut and New York Area
- Drive on the Massachusetts Turnpike to Rt. 128 (Rt. 95).
Drive North on Rt. 128 (Rt. 95) to Rt. 2. Drive East on Rt. 2
heading towards Arlington , Cambridge, Boston.
- From Rt. 2, take the "Park Avenue - Arlington Heights"
Exit. It will also be marked as Exit 58.
- At the set of lights at the top of the exit, turn left onto
Park Avenue (in the direction of Arlington Heights).
- Follow Park Avenue in a northerly direction for one mile
to Massachusetts Avenue.

- Rt. 128 (Rt. 95) South to Rt. 2 East heading towards Arlington,
